What makes us a particularly unique film festival is that we are run by a local nonprofit called Yachad. The festival is an outreach effort for them.
Yachad (meaning "together" in Hebrew) mobilizes volunteers to work side-by-side with those being served, to repair the homes and communities of low-income DC residents, in an effort to preserve affordable housing and keep DC diverse in race, economics and culture.
Still not seeing the connection? We like to say that it all comes together when you purchase a ticket for a film about the many cultures in DC, and in doing so, you support the preservation of these cultures.
