Started in 2008, Our City Film Festival is the only festival that showcases DC-focused films. We encourage filmmakers to use the power of their medium to bring our communities together and celebrate the rich cultures, stories and scenes that make up Washington, DC.
Our City Film Festival was founded by Kendra Rubinfeld during her tenure as Program Director of Yachad, a non-profit commited to sustaining affordable housing and community unity in our nation's capitol. The festival lived 6 consecutive years under Yachad's programmatic umbrella, growing each year in audience, venue, and press coverage.
In 2013, Kendra Rubinfeld left Yachad to found her own PR and Marketing firm with Co-Principal, Travis Hare. Together they formed Kendra Rubinfeld PR. During this separation from Yachad, Kendra Rubinfeld PR obtained the rights to Our City Film Festival.
This is a very exciting time for Our City Film Festival and Kendra Rubinfeld PR. While Kendra Rubinfeld still remains at the helm of the project, this organizational shift allows for new programatic opportunities, partnerships and direction. While planning is currently underway for the future of Our City Film Festival, we invite you to join our mailing list to stay up to date on new announcements and submission calls.
We thank all of you who have been loyal supporters, partners, and contributors to the festival over the years and look forward to sharing new experiences with you to come!
